  • A True Story: Walmart Cake

Ok…let me start by saying that I am a Professional Cake Decorator, for almost 24 years. I don't think this “mix up” was the fault of the decorator or the person who took the cake order. You people have to remember, “cake decorators” at Wal Mart, or any other in-store-bakery, on the most part, have never taken any classes on decorating a cake. And to boot, they probably make minimum wage, too. I think the “mix up” is hilarious! And I'm sure Suzanne got a huge laugh from it as well. From all my years of experience of working with people and their cake orders, I can only remember ONE customer that wasn't satisfied with my work. But remember this one folks…Most people have such High Expectations of what they want on a cake…ie…ordering the smallest cake available and wanting more on it than is possible. We, as decorators, can't take a “dog turd” and turn it into a “gold brick”. This “mix up” has Nothing to do with illiterate people. It's a “common sense” thing, and Most people don't possess that!!!
