I bet few people know that Ikea actually has a restaurant in it. They serve Swedish food of course, and no Allen wrench is required!

The coffee in the commons sucks. In the snack bar, they serve Seattle's Best, which isn't that bad. But when they offered Seattle's Best cups for us to take our commons coffee back to our offices, that was just wrong.

Fatback and Eggs
Fatback and eggs, served by a pregnant waitress with a playboy bunny tattoo on her arm and a hickey on her neck, in a restaurant without a non-smoking section, owned by a man named Butch. That's South Hill, Virginia.

Tōdai-ji Nandaimon (東大寺 南大門, Nara)
Tōdai-ji (東大寺 Tōdai-ji, meaning the Eastern Great Temple), is a Buddhist temple complex located in the city of Nara, Japan. Its Great Buddha Hall (大仏殿 Daibutsuden), reputedly the largest wooden building in the world, houses a colossal bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese simply as the Daibutsu (大仏) The temple also serves as the Japanese headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism. The temple is a listed UNESCO World Heritage site as "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara," together with seven other sites including temples, shrines and places in the city of Nara. Sika deer, regarded as messengers of the gods in the Shinto religion, roam the grounds freely.(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Hula Hoops Burlesque
"Thompson and her imitators did not bother with such mundane matters as hiring composers. Instead, they used melodies from operatic arias and popular songs of the day, incorporating them into the action for comic or sentimental effect. To prevent unauthorized productions, the scripts from these early burlesques were not published. In fact, the material changed so often (sometimes from week to week) that a written script would serve little purpose." Source: the history of burlesque. The rest of the photos from AIR 2007 from my camera are in the AIR Houston Pool and posted to the Schipulites account.

critter art car
I recall shooting this one at the Art Car Parade, but in no way did he look this menacing. Solitary, just past the outside patio, laying in wait. Taken at the Sullivan Group Event Planning Open House 2007. Note: Sullivan is a client.

Market Square Park
"Market Square Park: Bounded by Travis, Milam, Preston and Congress, Market Square is the geographic heart of downtown and the site of the city’s original commercial center. Market Square Park was the site of City Hall from 1841 through 1939. On Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the park hosts Market Square Market, an open-air shopping venue recreating the air of the street market it hosted until the 1920s." Source: www.houstondowntown.com/Home/Lifestyle/WhatToDo/Parks/ It should also be noted that it was in this park, a while ago, that I took Slaughter's photo in a random encounter.
