This is a vintage Japanese sweets mold called “kashigata”.

This is in the shape of “Noshi” - thin strip of dried abalone wrapped in folded red and white paper (and attached to a gift to show the regard of the giver). There are “寿” “kotobuki” = “celebration” with plum blossoms, Bamboo and Pine.

This is made of aluminum-but a special aluminum for this kind of mold. It is a bit heavy and is hard. This would be placed on a hot flat grill to cook the sweet bean cake (think of 2 pancakes with filling in the middle). This is a very popular snack in Japan.

*You can use this mold as food mold to cook. Please clean thoroughly before using.

It measures 14.2 cm long x 6.5 cm wide.
