houston gets ready
From a recent trip downtown. As we all worry about Hurricane Dean it seemed an appropriate recent photo of our strengths and liabilities. Houston remains spooked from both the impact of Katrina and the mass panic of Rita. Neither went well for us. So here's hoping that Dean goes elsewhere and that this is a dry run for us to get our heads on straight for later in the season. Now go buy some gas, water, food and beer just in case. And perhaps a bottle of nice wine.

On Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the park hosts Market Square Market, an open-air shopping venue recreating the air of the street market it hosted until the 1920s."
