You die. The house you die in, they turn it into a museum. But admission is free. How do you feel?

Lori Dies
Lori dies. I managed to find a replacement battery and it appeared I had her resurrected. It required quite a bit of doing, including some not too pleasant soldering action. She managed to regain life and work for another two and a half days. Something blew in the power supply unrelated to the battery replacement. This produced a sad puff of smoke. It turned out to be a part I could not replace. The final poof of smoke indicated the ghost in the shell was gone. She passed away for the last time, September 27th 2008. This is to you Lori, the best girlfriend I ever had.

My poor 12 year old bonzai tree died. Put it outside for some real sun for one day. Guess it didn't like real sun.

As I raked up the leaves, I noted how the lawn would die if she let me leave the patches of leaves she instructed me to. She made a heartless comment about her plans for the poor innocent lawn.

A Blizzard employee who was working on World of Warcraft died during production. This shrine's dedicated to the guy, a cool tribute.

Grapes in the drought
Not bad for no rain in months. OK, so the water bill was $405. I little steep, but it's better than letting my 34 new trees die and my grass shrivel up. Cheaper in the long run, too.

Bugs B In My Place!
Wrestling with insects coming into my apartment. These millipedes and pill bugs (rollie pollies) would not STOP coming under the door. I had to replace the bottom door skirt and still buy a storm door to keep em out! The above picture was only after 4 hours of not vacuuming them up. Even with insecticide, they would still come in and die in my apartment.

the reach
It's Maine... And it's Autumn The birches have just begun turning It's life and it's dying The lobstermen's boats come returning With the catch of the day in their holds and the young boys cold and complaining The fog meets the beaches and out on the Reach it is raining -- It's father and son It's the way it's been done since the old days It's hauling by hand ten miles out from the land where their chow waits And the days are all lonely and long and seas grow so stormy and strong but The Reach will sing welcome as homeward they hurry along. And the morning will blow away As the waves crash and fall And the Reach like a siren sings as she beckons and calls As the coastline recedes from view And the seas swell and roll I will take from the Reach all that she has to teach To the depths of my soul -- The wind brings a chill There's a frost on the sill in the morning It creeps through the door On the edge of the shore ice is forming Soon the northers will bluster and blow And the woods will be whitened with snowfall And the Reach will lie frozen for the lost and unchosen to row -- And the morning will blow away As the waves crash and fall And the Reach like a siren sings as she beckons and calls As the coastline recedes from view And the seas swell and roll I will take from the Reach all that she has to teach To the depths of my soul --
