At the Garota de Ipanema Cafe, where they wrote "The Girl From Ipanema" song. I could not get that song out of my head, in spite of never having heard it while in Brazil.

Slaughter
I debated on posting this photo. He told me his name, which I forgot, but his nick name is "slaughter". He just finished 15 years without parole for involuntary manslaughter. My first and last thoughts are with the victim. This photo was taken after the diverse works function. I was going back to my car through the park across from le carafe. I stopped to take pictures. Perhaps not wise. He struck up a conversation. Sang a rap song he wrote for his son while in prison. Volunteered for the photo. I actually declined further photos at one point. The last thing he said to me? It was "don't forget your lens." Interesting night. I pray for the victim so many years ago. And that slaughter makes good.

Hula Hoops Burlesque
"Thompson and her imitators did not bother with such mundane matters as hiring composers. Instead, they used melodies from operatic arias and popular songs of the day, incorporating them into the action for comic or sentimental effect. To prevent unauthorized productions, the scripts from these early burlesques were not published. In fact, the material changed so often (sometimes from week to week) that a written script would serve little purpose." Source: the history of burlesque. one wish
Reached back for the bottle And rubbed against the lamp Genie came out smiling Like some Eastern tramp He said hey boy what's happening What is going on You can have three wishes If you don't take too long I said well I wish they were all happy in the Lebanon Wish somebody'd help me write this song I wish when I was young My old man had not been gone Genie said consider it done There's something in the air And you don't know what it is You see someone through the window Who you've just learned to miss And the road leads on to glory but You've used up your last wish Your last wish And you want her to come home Genie said I'm sorry But that's the way it goes Where the hell's the lamp sucker It's time for me to go Bye There's something in the air And you don't know what it is You see someone through the window Who you've just learned to miss And the road leads on to glory but You've used up your last wish Your last wish And you want her to come home
