Japanese Paper Origami Crane
There are Japanese Paper at fromjapanwithlove on etsy. There are white, gold cranes, blue, gold cranes and grey, blue and green maple leaves on gold and red colors. This measures 95 x 35 cm or 37.4 x 13.8 inches. It comes folded in a bag (I bought it this way) and I will package it very carefully so it doesn't get damaged. Chiyogami has a long past but today the decorative patterns are silkscreened onto machinemade sheets of paper that is a mix of kozo ( a deciduous tree indigenous to Shikoku and Kyushu Islands in Japan) and sulphite (sulphite is used to keep the price reasonable). To create 1 piece of gorgeous chiyogami, a sheet of paper is silkscreened by hand with each individual color. Between applications of color, the sheets are dried on racks. You can imagine how time consuming and difficult it must be to line up each color in relation to the pattern! Baby Orangutan
This baby orangutan was so cute it was actually impossible to take your eyes off him! He was rolling around pestering his parents. Playing with a gold and yellow sheet of all things - swishing it over his head and rolling in it. Just hilarious. Like that video of the kid laughing on youTube, you just looked at him and smiled and laughed yourself. Amazing. I hope you have a great week little Orangutan fella!

Shroomin'
Every now and then, we get some of the most interesting looking mushrooms flower up in our backyard. Different colors and shapes, it's always a treat to see what shows up after a good hard rainfall. Can you tell what type of shroom I have? I sure don't know. I would appreciate it a lot. Enjoy!

The Airport at Newark/Liberty
Had to drop my dad off at the airport today. Drove for about 45 minutes and pulled into the departing gates section. I told him that I would be right back after I get the car parked. Now I haven't been to EWR in a long time (pre-9/11), my have things changed around here! When I finally found a spot to park, it was about 20 min. I had to walk the full length of this covered walkway, take the monorail, and find the area where I was supposed to meet him. Total time: 35 min. I barely saw him long enough to say goodbye as he left for the gate. (sigh)

Nothing could be finer...
...than to be in South Carolina. We're road tripping to Jersey. Why? Because it's still cheaper than taking a bus for three (and safer), taking a train (which takes longer), or flying (9/11 tax, fuel tax, homeland tax, shoe tax, etc.). What's wrong with that picture?

What I found on the side of the road
As I went to my mailbox to gather the usual junk mail and bills, the sun managed to reflect at me from an unusual angle. I looked down and there she was. Not looking too good, it was a 30GB iPod that had been dropped from someone's car (by accident, I suppose) and run over various times by oncoming traffic. It never had a chance! Almost a sad moment, then THUNK! It went into the trash. Unless you pack rats think you can do so something worthwhile with it?
